El Cocuy - General Presentation
As you travel through the road that connect the town of Maracay with the Choroni’s poblation, we pass through the National Park Henri Pittier. In the rural zone known by the name of Uraca you will find the antique Hidraulic Plant named "Agua Fuerte", build in the General Gomez’s time (1910). As you walk for 15 minutes by a mountain path which starts from the hidraulic plant, you will arrive to the Mountain Refuge "El Cocuy", in the sector called Mocundo.

ChoroniUbicated in the Girardot Municipal of the State of Aragua in Venezuela, the population of Choroni have their fundamental roots in the colonial process, its population conserves the traditions brought by slaves from the African continent, that is expressed daily in their cultural manifestations, such as drums. Agua Fuerte Foundation
The edification dated 1910 was one of the first hidraulic plants in the country build under the dictatorship of the General Juan Vicente Gomez. Actually, it is the headquarter of the Cultural Foundation "Agua Fuerte", cultural reference of the State of Aragua and the population of Choroni.
