One of the good local guides for walks and bird-vatching is the English- speaking Virgilio Espinal, who commonly goes by "Vivi" (Contact him at 0243-991.11.06 or 0416-7473833, vivi@cocuy.org.ve [1], or just ask locals in Choroní or Puerto Colom- bia.) Knowledgeable about the park, he op- erates a mountain refuge known as ’El Cocuy’ ,near the village of Uraca, that serves as a base for tours ranging from two hours to several days and of any level of dificulty.
